1. It uses much CPU time, (up to 100%) when visiting a forum with lot of small images.
What version of HandyCache do you use? What processor do you have? And maybe link to forum?
2. It refuses to only use local cached images, it repeatedly reloads them
I have added ".*\.(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|bmp|swf|ico)" to "Do Not Update" list and to "Savo To Cache"
I have all images from forum local, (100% positive)
I regularly see HC go out and reload same images already in read-only cache and saving again in main cache.
Also have some local copy with alternative CSS (my way), which is ignored and simply reloaded from internet
Try to check "Ignore No-cache" option on the Cache-Control tab.
3. Then I added same rules to "Only from Cache" and get constant 404 on images ...
Sure! this images NOT found on HandyCache's drive cache, and this rule this list forbids loading images from internet. Simply load this images once and they will available from cache. You may use hotkey for temporarily disable this "Only from cache" list and load images on some page.
Is not good caching proxy...
It is VERY good caching proxy, best seen by me... But it have TOO MANY features so its tweaking may be quite difficult for new users.
"Do not update" should not go out update images, "Do NOT update" means do NOT update...
Only From Cache is blind, does not see local images...
Sure! ALL your problem is unchecked "Ignore no-cache"
Stopped using HandyCache and went back to my old SmartCache....and although it does not have a pretty interface such as HC, it is waaaaay faster...and does what I ask...only use local cached images...
